Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons or 7 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 9 ounces warm water (270 ml)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (about 15 g)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (56 g)
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (like parsley or oregano) for added flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt. Give it a good stir to distribute evenly.
  • Pour in the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms. The dough will be sticky—this is completely normal!
  • Gently fold in the minced garlic until well-distributed throughout the dough.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf or place it directly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the top of the dough with melted butter. If you're using herbs, sprinkle them on top for added flavor.
  • Cover the shaped dough with a towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes while the oven continues to preheat.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Once baked, let the bread cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Use fresh garlic for the best flavor. Allowing the dough to rise properly is key to achieving a light and airy texture. Store any leftover garlic bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, and freeze for longer storage.
